Deeply rooted in the classic American tradition, Joe’s sound draws from a wide range of folk, country, and singer-songwriter influences. Artists such as Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Townes Van Zandt, Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves, The Civil Wars, Chris Stapleton, Colter Wall, Brent Cobb, and the wider world of Dave Cobb-produced Americana have all helped shape his musical direction.
At the heart of his work is a dedication to storytelling, lyric, melody, and emotional honesty. Joe’s love of country music was sparked in 2013 after being heavily influenced by the television show Nashville. He was especially drawn to the storytelling tradition at the centre of the genre, a discovery that would later shape his own songwriting path. In 2017, that journey came full circle when he performed at the world-famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee.
